2010 - China "Charisma" Awards

Alex has been chosen to receive on 17th December 2010 a prestigious Charisma Award by People Weekly in Beijing, the flagship magazine of the Nanfang Group. Nanfang pioneered the concept of a yearly list of influential people in 2002. These yearly awards are given to 50 people from  all walks of life. Candidates are selected for being "stylish, influential and charismatic, but above all having a positive influence on the world around them".

This year's recipients include:
1. Politicians:Wen Jiabao, China's prime minister,Donald Tsang, Hong Kong Chief Executive, Mme Fu Ying, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and ex-Ambassador to UK.
2. Leading press figures including print journalists, television and the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.
3. Academics including outspoken Law professor Jiang Ping and top neuroscientist Rao Yi.
4. Successful business men including the New Head of Volvo, Li Shufu,Qing Xiao former Chairman of China Merchant's Bank, the fastest growing bank in China.
5.Artists including renowned director, Chen Kaige and first Chinese to win Neustadt laureate, the poet Duo Duo.
6. Fellow athletes include tennis player Li Na highest ranked Chinese player ever, China's Badminton Olympic Gold medalist Lin Dan, gymnastics Olympics Gold medalist Chen Yibin.
