Like Badminton, Burghley International Horse Trials is one of the three top international events, with Lexington Three Day Event making up the Rolex Grand Slam. It takes place in the grounds of Burghley House, one of Europe's most outstanding family estates. Home of the Cecil Family, close advisors to Elizabeth I, the future 6th Marquis of Exeter won the Olympic hurdling gold medal in 1928. The Da Vinci Code, Elizabeth -The Golden Age and Pride and Prejudice were all filmed here.
